Special Circumstances & Compassion-Based Exceptions Policy

Last Updated: 07/23/2025

At Life’s Abri’s, we believe in balancing fairness with compassion. While our standard policies exist to ensure clarity and protect all parties, we understand that life can be unpredictable. In certain cases, we may offer a courtesy-based or compassion-driven exception—but such gestures are not guaranteed, and do not represent an admission of wrongdoing or liability. This policy outlines when such exceptions may be considered, how they are evaluated, and what travelers should understand about their nature and limits.

1. Definition of a Compassion-Based Exception

A compassion-based exception is any discretionary accommodation offered by Life’s Abri’s outside the bounds of standard policy, such as:

  • Courtesy travel credits after a disruption

  • Flexible payment plans

  • Waived or reduced change/cancellation fees

  • Adjusted rebooking terms due to personal hardship

  • Post-trip goodwill gestures (e.g., refund of a trip incidental, bonus credit, etc.)

These exceptions are voluntary on the part of Life’s Abri’s and not guaranteed to be repeated.

2. Case-by-Case Consideration

All requests for special accommodation will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account:

  • The nature of the circumstance (e.g. medical emergency, bereavement, visa denial)

  • The timing and documentation provided

  • The traveler’s communication history and responsiveness

  • The vendor flexibility and financial feasibility of the request

  • Whether the situation falls outside of what travel insurance typically covers

Past exceptions do not set a precedent for future cases, and each situation is evaluated individually.

3. Courtesy ≠ Contractual Obligation

By accepting a compassion-based exception, the traveler acknowledges that:

  • Life’s Abri’s is not admitting fault or breach of contract

  • The exception is offered as a gesture of goodwill only

  • The core Booking Agreement and policies remain in effect

  • The traveler waives the right to interpret the exception as a binding policy change or entitlement

Life’s Abri’s reserves the right to make no exceptions at all, even in difficult situations, especially where vendor terms prevent flexibility.

4. Examples of Potential Exceptions

Situations where we may consider special accommodations include:

  • Death or hospitalization of a traveler or immediate family member

  • Natural disasters or extreme weather disrupting travel (outside force majeure scope)

  • Denied boarding or last-minute visa denial (with evidence)

  • Serious medical complications or pregnancy

  • Religious conflicts with unchangeable trip elements (when not disclosed earlier)

In all cases, supporting documentation may be required and must be submitted within a reasonable timeframe.

5. What Is Not Considered a Special Circumstance

Compassion-based exceptions will generally not be offered for:

  • Disliking an accommodation, excursion, or meal

  • Travel preference changes after booking

  • Being unprepared or failing to follow instructions

  • Declining travel insurance and later requesting reimbursement

  • Attempting to resolve complaints through threats, public reviews, or chargeback disputes

Courtesy only functions within a context of mutual respect.

6. How to Request Consideration

To request an exception, please:

  • Email hello@lifesabris.com with the subject line: Compassion Request – [Your Name]

  • Explain the situation clearly, respectfully, and factually

  • Include any relevant documentation (doctor’s note, death certificate, etc.)

  • Allow up to 10 business days for full review and response

Urgent trip disruptions should be reported as soon as possible for any exception to be considered.

7. Result of Exception Requests

Outcomes may include:

  • Travel credit toward a future trip (with an expiration date)

  • Partial refund beyond stated policy

  • Rebooking flexibility or reduced penalties

  • Courtesy gift or credit for inconvenience

  • A kind decline with explanation (if the request cannot be granted)

All decisions are final once communicated in writing and do not guarantee future accommodations.

8. Final Note

Compassion is not a loophole—it’s a value we apply with discernment. We care about our travelers and want to make room for grace where possible, without compromising the structure that keeps our trips reliable, fair, and financially sustainable.
